New Year discount offers on European River Cruises

Hi ::subscriber.first_name::

It's wonderful to be talking to you about travel again. We hope you're as excited as we are to be venturing further afield.

Our travel advisor, Andrew, has been working in the industry for 40 years. We asked him for his best advice on European River Cruises and this is what he told us. As there are literally hundreds of options out there, Andrew also helped us to hand pick some times and locations that work best.

We're also delighted to show you some outstanding current offers, including no single supplement, or up to $8,000 off per couple on selected trips.

Deals like this come and go all the time, so the best way to find out what's on offer, is to drop us a line. We'll get straight back to you with some ideas.

Best wishes,

Simon Mustoe.

Avignon: ghost bridge of the rhône

How a bridge turned a little shepherd boy into a hero.

The most striking sight in Avignon is the Bridge of Saint Bénézet, which juts into the Rhône River for four elegant spans then abruptly ends half-way, like a forgotten artwork. It may no longer have practical use today, but the truncated bridge is one of the most beloved structures in France, and surrounded by charming legend.

📖 BOOK: The World's Great River Journeys

The Lorelei

The Lorelei is a cliff that plunges into the Rhine River. As legend has it, Lorelei was also a water nymph who sat high on the rock, combing her golden hair and luring sailors to their deaths with her beauty and seductive song. The magical landscape along the Rhine, between Koblenz and Mainz, only helps to bring this legend to life for the growing number of travellers enjoying river cruises through the area.

Vienna, home of Sigmund Freud

Freud's fans

The inner city of Vienna is overflowing with superbly decorated historical architecture, but for decades its most famous address was actually an unassuming apartment building in a middle-class suburb—Berggasse 19. From 1891 to 1938, this was the home of Sigmund Freud, the brilliant thinker who invented psychoanalysis and discovered the power of dreams and the subconscious, changing the way we think about the human mind forever.
